bKash signs network sharing agreement with Teletalk

bKash Limited today signed an agreement with the state owned mobile phone operator Teletalk Bangladesh Limited which would soon allow the Teletalk users to open bKash wallet and access to mobile financial services offered by bKash. 

Gias Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director of Teletalk and Kamal Quadir, Chief Executive Officer of bKash signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

Currently, bKash offers mobile financial services using the network of Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi and Airtel.

“The agreement is a milestone for Teletalk as it will give our customers to access bKash mobile financial services, an essential need of the common people of Bangladesh”, said Gias Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director of Teletalk.

Launched in December 2004 as the fifth mobile phone operator, Teletalk has around 3.9 million customers.

“Having Teletalk as our network partner will surely help us to take the mobile financial services to more people and serve our objective of financial inclusion”, said Kamal Quadir, Chief Executive Officer of bKash.

bKash is a complete mobile financial service provider for common people which apart from sending and receiving money, offers an array of mobile financial services including mobile top up, payment, salary disbursement and interest on savings.

Launched in 2011, bKash, a joint venture of BRAC Bank and US based company Money in Motion, World Bank’s private sector investment arm the International Finance Corporation and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has more than 16 million customers. bKash has over 100,000 agent points nationwide to facilitate free wallet opening, cash-in and cash-out service at every corner of Bangladesh.
